The main change we wanted to make when we bought the house was to turn the two stables into a new kitchen by knocking through from the lounge.
The roof of both stables had holes in them so you could pretty much see up into the upstairs rooms, while birds no doubt lived there at one point. The first task was to dig up and shift literally hundreds of cobbles so we could save them and reuse them in the garden before the floor was raised and laid.
After much mid winter cobble digging in the freezing cold, the builders then took over and six months later we’ve finally got an amazingly light bright and warm room that we love.

Window is in and Dermot is trying to imagine what it will be like when the kitchen is fitted. Weird red stuff for the underfloor heating is about to go down next.

Dougal photo bombing in front of the new window and door and we’re able to stand on the concrete floor now it’s dry

New kitchen in and a zillion tester pots on the walls. We went for the one to the far left by the window, called Elephant.
